Zakat & Sadaqa

The ECIC Zakat & Sadaqa Committee is humbly requesting our community members to consider donating their Zakat-al-maal to ECIC. The ECIC Zakat and Sadaqa Committee is dedicated to helping needy Muslims in and around the Greater Atlanta area, focusing on the Muslims local to ECIC.

Over the years ECIC has helped numerous individuals and families, a number exceeding 35 families that are zakat-eligible, with critical assistance in the direst of situations. Families helped have included victims of domestic abuse, health emergencies, widows & divorcees, immigrants, families who have lost their source of income due to accidents, and others facing homelessness. Over the past 12 months we have been able to disburse over $80,000 in zakat funds by following a defined verification process to determine eligibility and severity of need.

We follow Quranic guidelines to determine Zakat eligibility, and we make decisions based on the Islamic concept of consultation (shura).

We also reach out to the community and partner with other masajid, and charitable organizations.

In addition, we have a subcommittee under Zakat and Sadaqa called Project Hijrah where we support Refugees, most recently from Afghanistan.
